Startup weekend isn’t necessary a conference, but it is a kick-ass event for any entrepreneurs or upcoming startups looking to launch. Startup weekend is held all over the world and the event is basically a 54 hour long event for you to launch a startup.
Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Regardless if you are a digital marketer or an entrepreneur, this event will help you boost great confidence. If you are tired of not being able to locate your future co founder, you might be able to meet one here and jumpstart your startup that weekend. I missed out on the one located in the Bay area, but the events are being hosted all around the world. Check their schedule for a place near you! This is an extremely budget friendly event and everyone that attended the event recalls that it was a blast. The event cost between $75-150$.

Tips For Attending Events
Most of the time unless you or your startup is a big name, you might be the main speaker, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get anything out of it. The main goal of attending event for digital marketers and startups is to be able to network with as many people as you can. At the same time, you should be handing out as many business cards as you can and try to get as many business cards as you can as well. It’s very important to say hi and don’t be shy at events. Introduce yourself in a friendly way to others and let them know what you are doing. A good technique is to follow up with the person after the event. Look them up on linkedin or shoot them an email reminding them of something that you said to them at the event and ask them to connect with you. You never know if that person will help you in the future or be your future business partner. Most importantly, have fun at the event, learn a lot, motivate yourself and network!
