Google and Amazon Both Launch Their Same-day Delivery In LA.
Google and Amazon seem to be aiming for he Los Angeles shoppers, both are launching a same-delivery service within the are during days between each other.
Google stated during Sunday that its expanding its Google Shopping Express program to West Los Angeles and Manhattan from the Bay Are, where the offering had first began last year. This service will allow shopper to go to google express and shop for items to be dropped within the same time frame chosen by the customer. Google will also be accepting orders until 4 p.m for delivery in the final window of 6 to 9 p.m.
There no minimum amount of purchasing, surcharge or makeup, according to Google, During the current moment, user will be able to sign up for a 6-month free trail or pay a total of $4.99 per item for whats been dubbed a la carte shipping. Google commented that its currently evaluating how to price the service and will allow customers to chose a longer-termed subscription once it does.
Google shall be using third-party deliver agents trained througn an in-person program the company has called “Courier University” which teaches agents on how to greet their customers at the door and how to utilize the mobile shopping application. THe couriers will be wearing a Google Shopping Express uniform and, for the most part, drive a Google branded vehicle.
“Los Angeles is a great next city for us to expand to after the San Francisco Bay Area,” said Tom Fallows, product management director for the service. “While it shares many of the same attributes in terms of customer preferences and lifestyles, there are also some new challenges for us to explore, such as Los Angeles’ famous traffic conditions.”
Within the Southland, the service shall become available for residents of Culver City, Inglewood, Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, Venice, West Los Angeles, and Westwood. Customers will be able to access products from places like Costco, Guitar Center, L’occitane, Small & Final, Staples, Target, Toys R Us and Walgreens.
Google has further added that it has plans on expanding its program soon towards Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, and West Hollywood.
During January, Google tested their services using its employees based in Santa Monica, The program had previously come from the Bay Area, where Google has already begun to compete against similar services provided by eBay and Walmart.
During this past Firday, e-commerce giant Amazon had also stated that its own same-day delivery service would become available for the area. Amazon shoppers will have access to over more than 1 million items, visible by click the “Get It Today” filter on the left panel of Amazon’s website or consolidate on Amazon site.
Many products can be ordered as late as noon for delivery before 9 p.m., the company said.
