Hong Kong Fashion App Startup Viss, Acquired By AID Partners
Viss is a mobile app ecommerce/fashion startup. Viss gets approximately 18 million page views per month and also received an early 500,000$ seed round last year. A few days ago, AID partners announced that they will be brining Viss under their umbrella in an acquisition for an undisclosed value.
Viss is a magazine themed app that uses product matching technology to showcase a category of fashion trends and pictures. Viss has been featured in Apple App Store’s ‘New and Noteworthy Frontpage’ and ‘What’s Hot’ section across 14 Asian countries, along with clocking 18M monthly page views on their website. Viss allows you to purchase directly from the app. The app is also connected to all the major social media networks including the social media giants in China such as Weibo, Wechat and many more.
The founder is Leo Ku, a lot of people mistake him for a famous celebrity in Hong Kong named Leo Ku. Leo Ku has over 14 years of experience in business development, growth management, sales & marketing, and strategic operations in the United States and Asia. He has worked for both Fortune 500 and global companies in media & entertainment, Internet and technology, and premium services. He served as the Regional Director of Strategy and Business Development for Discovery Networks (TV Network portfolio including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, etc) with responsibility for business development, M&A, growth & transformation strategy and new venture formation in Asia. Prior to this, Leo served as Head of Business Development for Television Broadcast Limited (TVB), and Asia Pacific Regional Manager of Yahoo! Asia, responsible for new media monetization, Asia and global expansion strategy, deal and business development. Before that, he was Asia Pacific Regional Manager of Oracle Corporation, focused on product development, Asia government initiatives, and strategic operations. Leo has also served as an external consultant and advisory for multiple international companies and launched multiple ventures as entrepreneur.
The second co founder of Viss is a girl named Ivy Wong who was in charge of designing the product. Not much information is available her.
