President Obama Joins Quora Verifying Its First Profile.
The internet will always be appreciated for allowing people to have some interesting talks with people they would normally never be able to talk to otherwise. Social media sites can deliver statuses update and responses directly from people in the known.
Although one real problems that tend to crop up, is the true identity behind the person who says they are, for all we know it could be someone playing a practical joke behind the face of Barack Obama, with theses cases it can be pretty difficult to trust the person your talking to on that network.
This reason are why services like Facebook and Twitter have recently begun to create verified accounts, so people may know that its really them communicating with actual people, Recently question and answer site Quora site is joining in.
“Over the past year, we’ve been excited to see more and more public figures share their knowledge and insights on Quora,” the company said in a blog post announcing the new accounts on Monday. “Quora has increasingly become a go-to destination for public figures to directly answer meaningful questions and share their expertise and experiences with the world.”
While the company will not be accepting request for verification, it will do so for profiles they believe, “that a significant percentage of Quora readers recognize the person’s name or background and will value confirmation of the person’s identity.”
Profiles can be authenticated by connecting other social media profiles including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. Each of these verified accounts will receive a blue checkmark icon that looks like the once seen on Twitter and Facebook. Qoura has gained itself a pretty high profiled person to be their first verified account, none other than the main man himself, the President of the United States.
Barack Obama had answered two questions on Quora during Monday, both of them are about the Affordable Care Act, one about the reason behind on why enrollment has been accelerated and the last about what kind of impact the ACA will have on the lives of young people.
Since the creation and verification of his accounts, he has gained over nearly 2,000 followers on his page.
This wouldn’t be the firs time the President or the White House, have used Quora to further their agenda, During January 2012, the White House created its own forum for the State of the Union address, where user would be able to post questions for President Obama to answer in his speech, and for White House representatives to respond during later times.
