RadiumOne Fires CEO After He Pleads Guilty to Domestic Abuse.
The CEO of RadiumOne has recently been fired by the online advertisement network board after his conviction one battery and domestic violence charges, the company announced on Sunday.
The company’s founder and chairman, Gurbaksh Chahal, was fired during Saturday night, according to sources from Re/code, which was the first to announce this recent termination. The company’s chief operating officer, Bill Lonergan shall be taking over as CEO, the San Francisco-based company said in a released statement.
The company has gone under intense pressure to act after Chahal had pleaded guilty earlier this month after two misdemeanor battery charges related to the beating his girlfriend during the past August of last year, which was captured on video. Chahal, 31, has faced 47 felony counts related to the incident, in which he allegedly beat and kicked his girlfriend over 11 times in a 30 minute long attack at his San Francisco home.
Chahal was placed under a three year probation as part of a plea deal after video of the incident was ruled inadmissible because it was improperly seized by police. He was also sentenced to serve community service and instructed to enroll into a domestic violence education program.
During a blog post on Sunday, Chahal vehemently denied the charges against, blaming both the police and media for cause such an “overblown drama.” Chahal stated that he “lost his temper” after discovering that his “girlfriend was having unprotected sex for money with other people”
“I recognize that my temper got the better of me, and I will regret that for the rest of my life,” Chahal wrote. “But there is a difference between temper and domestic violence, and the truth of what actually happened is no where close to what the police claimed nor anywhere near what the online chatter and pundits are now making it out to be.”
